Compression moulding tooling consists of a die/mould machined from solid steel and heat treated to withstand high pressure and temperature. Depending on product design, tooling is expected to cost upwards of $10,000. After the initial investment in tooling, manufacturing cost of products is commonly within $5-$10 per unit.
